B-29 NOSE ART
B-29s flew almost continuous bombing runs from Tinian to the Japanese Homeland, ending in the two A Bomb attacks.
The SeaBees adopted some of these B-29s. Here is some of the nose art of the SeaBees 29's and others.

The CORAL QUEEN and her CREW were lost in action in 1945
The 9th NCB B-29
The 112th NCB B-29
Of course, there were two world famous B-29s
on Tinian
The Enola Gay dropped the first
Atomic Bomb on Hiroshima
Bock's Car (although it was
not named that at the time)
dropped the second
Atomic Bomb on Nagasaki
Note! I ran many of these images through Adobe Photo to clean them up. Some have been cropped.

We will be adding more B-29 artwork as time goes on. Lee Hendricks sent us a whole CD of it and other stuff.
SeaBees on Tinian and other Pacific Islands
Before we begin this section of photos, I would like to say that all of these photos are of the "good times". We shouldn't forget the SeaBees, Airmen, Marines and Soldiers who spent their last days on Tinian.
This was the US Armed Forces Cemetary on Tinian during the war.
After the war, all of the remains of the Servicemen were returned to the US.

TINIAN HARBOR and WEST FIELD 1945
Both built by the Seabees still exist today.
The Harbor has had nothing done to it in 50+ years. The breakwater is just about gone.
West Field has only the far right two runways left. the far right is used as a taxi way
and a new runway was built over the other. It is now an International Airport
capable of landing the largest passenger jets.
